Vermont Boat Bill of Sale
A Vermont boat/vessel bill of sale is a legal paper utilized in the state to document and validate the change of proprietorship of a vessel. This document will identify the purchaser and vendor, as well as detail the boat and the conditions of the proprietorship transfer. This form may be required for tax and documentation purposes.

Signature Requirements – Both the purchase and the vendor have to put their signatures on the document, however, notarization is not required.

Vessel Registration

To run in Vermont waters, all vessels owned by Vermont inhabitants have to be documented with the state's DMV. (Visitors to the state are free from registering if they stay for no more than ninety days.) Although the Vermont rule doesn't stipulate when a purchaser has to document a vessel after its acquisition, it is recommended to do so as soon as feasible. A vessel's registration might be valid for a year or two. When documentation is pending, owners will get a postcard notification to renew by mail.

Where Should I Register?

Physical registration is available at all Vermont Department of Motor Vehicle sites.
