To operate in North Dakota waters, any vessel that is motorized has to be registered with the North Dakota Game and Fish Department. The department does not stipulate how fast a purchaser has to begin the documentation procedure after buying a watercraft, but it is recommended practice to do so as soon as possible, and after the request is submitted, the state will mail registrants a ten-day interim documentation certificate. The registration period for a vessel is three years, and it can be renewed virtually.
Unlike other states, which mandate initial vessel documentation to be carried out physically or by mail, North Dakota allows first boat registration to be carried out virtually, and each new watercraft can be done virtually. The North Dakota Game and Fish Department also has offices where you can register for the transfer of proprietorship of old vessels.
North Dakota no longer has a separate registration form because it processes practically all vessel documentation through its website. Purchasers of old vessels from private individuals/entities, on the other hand, should have the following:
Evidence of identification
A sale document
Evidence of remittance of the Aquatic Nuisance Species charges.
