The Maine boat bill of sale is a form that serves as evidence of a transaction that involves the change of ownership for a boat or vessel (also known as a watercraft) in Maine. It’s between two or more parties and can be a sale, purchase, or trade of the boat. The document details the purchase price, the names of the parties involved, a description of the boat, and other pertinent information. Once the document has been duly executed, it’s required before the boat can be registered with the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. 

Boat registration in Maine 

Boat registration, regardless of the original registration date, lasts until December 31st and has a validity period of one year. In some cases, the registration can be renewed online but this isn’t applicable across the state as of this writing. For those who cannot renew online, it’s necessary to go to the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife office to process the renewal.

  • The certificate of title that has been signed over by the original owner
