The Louisiana motor vehicle bill of sale is a legal document that records and serves as proof of a transaction that involves the change of ownership for a motor vehicle. The document details the transaction, usually between two or more private parties, and includes the terms of the sale such as the name of the parties, the purchase amount, and a description of the vehicle. Vehicle registration in Louisiana

When a private individual or an entity purchases a vehicle, they are given forty days from the transaction date to register it with the proper authority in Louisiana. If the vehicle is not purchased but instead transferred from another state then the owner of the vehicle will have just thirty days to register the vehicle. In Louisiana, registration is valid for two years and citizens can renew it via the online portal of the Office of Motor Vehicles
