Owners of new automobiles have sixty days from the purchase date to register them. Vehicle documentation must be renewed every year. Car owners can renew their license plates virtually, by mail, or physically at an NCDMV license plate office.
Automobile owners can get their vehicles registered at any municipal license plate bureau.
Sale Document;
Title Application (Form MVR-1); Odometer Disclosure Statement (MVR-180);
Certificate of Title (request for a replacement title with the Division of Motor Vehicles);
An acceptable driver's permit is required.
If the vehicle possessor sends someone else to register the car on his/her behalf, a North Carolina Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney is required.
Costs for Documentation; and
Evidence of Insurance with the Following Minimum Prerequisites:
Twenty-five thousand US dollars for item/belonging destruction
Thirty thousand US dollars for physical harm/wound to a single person; and
Sixty thousand US dollars for physical harm/wound to two more persons.
