The New Jersey Motor Car Commission gives new owners sixty days to document their automobiles. The registration has to be renewed every year. The Motor Vehicle Commission allows you to renew your license virtually, by mail, or physically.
New registrations have to be applied for physically at a Motor Vehicle Commission center. It is necessary to make an appointment.
Sale Document;
Odometer Disclosure Statement (Form OS/SS UTA);
Document/Certificate of Title (request for a replacement title with a Universal Title Application (Form OS/SS-UTA) at a Motor Vehicle Commission center);
Authorized/acceptable driver's permit;
A New Jersey Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney is mandated if the car is registered on the owner's behalf by someone other than the owner;
Documentation charges;
and evidence of insurance with the following minimum requirements:
Five thousand US dollars for belongings destruction;
Fifteen thousand US dollars for a physical wound to a single person (for every accident);
and thirty thousand US dollars for physical injury to two or more persons (for every accident).
