Known as Form TR-312 - the Kansas motor vehicle bill of sale acts as a record of a transaction that involves the transfer of ownership for a motor vehicle. It’s between two or more parties, can be the sale, purchase, or trade of the vehicle, and is also signed by the buyers and sellers. IT contains important information about the transaction such as the Vehicle VIN, the date it occurred, the names of the parties involved, and more.

The bill of sale is required when trying to register and get the title for the new owner at the division of vehicles in Kansas. It must be signed and notarized before it’s considered valid. In addition to the bill of sale, an odometer disclosure form is required for vehicles newer than 20 years old and under 16,000 pounds.
