Georgia has its own laws related to when and how a vehicle must be registered. If someone takes up residence in Georgia from another state and brought their car, it must be registered within thirty days but they must get a Georgia driver’s license before that. Its’ also necessary to register a purchased vehicle within 30 days.
When looking for a place to register, you can visit the Tax commissioner’s tag office if you already know where it is. More information can be found on the Tax commissioner’s website to locate a registration point close to you based on the county you’re living in.
The documents you’ll need are:
The bill of sale (of course)
The disclosure statement for the odometer
Title and tag application (Form MV-1)
The title of the vehicle to be registered. If unavailable then the MSO is acceptable (manufacturers certificate of origin)
A Georgia drivers license
Insurance which is proven by an insurance binder or by having the insurance company file directly with the department
The applicable fees
Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney Form (if applicable)
